Are you fascinated by the rich history of Bonaventure and its iconic monuments? Do you love learning from those who have spent their lives surrounded by history? If so, you won’t want to miss our upcoming event!
On Sunday, July 21st at 2:00 PM, we are thrilled to host a special lecture at the Jewish Chapel in Bonaventure Cemetery. This event features Virginia Little Mobley, a lifelong Savannah resident and the esteemed owner of Oglethorpe Marble and Granite Company.
Virginia’s story is a captivating journey through the history of Savannah’s monuments. Her grandfather, G.B. Little, founded the family business in 1907, bringing his expertise from Charleston to Savannah. Over the years, under the guidance of G.B. and his son Milton, Oglethorpe Marble and Granite Company has introduced some of the most innovative techniques in the monument industry.
Despite initial skepticism about women’s roles in the business, Virginia absorbed everything she could from her family’s legacy. Today, she stands as one of the foremost experts in monument making, with a wealth of knowledge and stories to share.
