Great news!
Bonaventure Cemetery will reopen tomorrow October 11, 2024 at 8:00 am.
There are still many areas which are blocked off. The biggest issue is what the city calls “hangers” – trees which are leaning on other trees or branches which have been damaged but are still attached. Please keep away from these taped off areas and DO NOT try to go around any barricades. Please also keep out of the way of workers trying to do their job. Use caution throughout the cemetery.
I know we are all anxious to see if everything is okay, myself included, as BHS has not been allowed in yet either. I know tour operators and guides are more than ready to get back to work. But, since most tours do not begin until 10:00, out of courtesy to the families of our residents, I ask that the general public wait until 10:00 to visit. Please give them the first two hours to check their plots and visit their loved ones.
